Introduction of freshwater wetlands.
Wetlands are areas where standing water covers the soil or an area where the ground is very wet. Freshwater wetlands are not connected to the ocean. They can be found along the boundaries of streams, lakes, ponds or even in large shallow holes that fill up with rainwater. Freshwater wetlands may stay wet all year long, or the water may evaporate during the dry season. Wetlands have the highest species diversity of all ecosystems. Many species of amphibians, reptiles and birds can be found in the wetlands.
Aquatic Biome
Freshwater wetlands belong to the aquatic biome, which includes freshwater ponds, rivers, streams and wetlands. It can also include oceans and coral reefs. Life forms in these waters depend on the abiotic factors such as sunlight entering the water, temperature, salt content. Water biomes with lots of light have more plants with more energy to give to consumers.
Latitude:
Freshwater wetlands are located on, around and in between the two tropics because of the warmer climate. Most freshwater wetlands are located on the outskirts of large bodies of water or low lying areas where the water accumulates.
Rainfall:
The average rainfall in a freshwater wetland is 150cm-500cm. the freshwater wetlands get their large amount of precipitation because of their low elevation and the latitude location.
